A ladder-back dining chair with a solid wood seat. Light enough to move, strong enough to be handed down.
Seats six to ten. One slab top with no joins you can feel, and legs that bolt on so it moves house with you.
A low three-leg stool for the kitchen or the hallway. Turned on the lathe, with a seat that wears in rather than out.
Every piece starts as a full-size drawing, so the proportions are right before any timber is cut.
Boards are chosen by hand from local mills and cut so the grain runs the way the piece will be used.
Traditional joints, glued and pegged, with no screws holding anything that matters.
Hand-rubbed oil rather than lacquer, so a mark in ten years can be sanded out and re-oiled.
